A CENTER FOR HEART
FOCUSED LIVING

HEART CENTERED LIVING

                By Myra Tovey

My first teacher in energy work, Dr. Brugh Joy, made his transition on December 23, 2009.  I began to study with him in 1980, 30 years ago.  He introduced me to the fact that we are more than a physical body; we are a human energy system.  We have an energy field, energy centers called chakras, and meridians.  I was taught that by focusing at the Heart Center, which is one of the seven chakras, one lives in present time not in the past or worrying about future events.

The Institute of Heart Math has measured the energy field when one is focused at the heart center.  When one feels gratitude, appreciation, and unconditional love, the energy field measures approximately 15 feet in diameter.

Throughout the 30 years, Dr. Brugh Joy stressed the importance of the Heart Center, and would often quote this statement, “the Heart Center is the acme of human spiritual development”.  I reflect on that quote often, which helps me deepen my understanding of the profound awareness that we have when looking at life through the Heart Center.

Brugh was a world-renowned teacher of Heart Centered transformation.  His work explored the four attributes of the heart: Compassion, Innate Harmony, Healing Presence, and Unconditional Love, all weaving together into Selfless Service.

I mediate daily on those attributes, and pick one attribute a day to be more aware of for the day.  For those of you are healers; Healing Presence is the attribute for you to develop.  When you are focused at the heart Center, you are Healing Presence.

I will miss Brugh’s physical presence, and know that he will be my last teacher in Heart Centered work.  I know it is my soul’s work to continue to teach Heart Centered Living, through my workshops, my CD, “Mediations from the Heart”, and my book, “Yes I Will”.

I feel a deep gratitude for having Brugh as my teacher and mentor.  Although I feel sadness that he is no longer here in physical form, I feel he will continue to teach me through dreams.

Quote from Elizabeth Kubler-Ross MD:

“When you make your transition you are asked two things, basically:  How much love you have been able to give and receive, and how much service you have rendered “.

                                     Have a Heart Centered year!
